This is an update to my last post, Yes We Are Talking About Boobs.
Yesterday, 11/26/12, I had a few appointments. I kind of skipped over some details from the OB/Gyn, I only mentioned that I scheduled another test that my dr wanted done on Monday as well, but didn’t give any details as to what it was for. You see I was a little embarrassed to discuss that part with you, our readers. I didn’t see it as entirely relevant as well. But since yesterday it has become a little more relevant as it is dictating our schedule.
So you see since the birth of our last little one, Courtney, my monthly visitor has been very painful and Extremely Heavy, to the point of embarrassing at times. I figured the pain was due to adhesions, since my body likes to make too much scar tissue, so I guessed I would have to live with it. I was supposed to have my yearly pap smear last week when I saw my Dr, but had to tell her that I couldn’t since my monthly visitor was here and I mentioned how painful it had become. We continued with my appointment and something else was said that made me mention how heavy my flow was as well. She got on to me about how I didn’t mention that earlier and I thought I had. She said she thought I might have developed Adenomyosis, she wanted to do a pelvic sonogram to take a look and depending on what that showed, then she might want to do a uterine biopsy. I asked why she would want to do that, she said she needs to rule out uterine cancer. I had to inform her she was just a ball of joy that day, from breast cancer to uterine cancer in one appointment! We scheduled my scan for Monday 11/26 in the morning since I had the breast surgeon in the afternoon.
Yesterday 11/26/12
11:00 am – Pelvic Sonogram – My Initial thoughts – Sonographer made a comment that my uterus was enlarged, but nothing more. I didn’t see any masses when she was scanning and measuring. Left there thinking that was a bit of a waste of time, but she wanted it done, so I did it.
1:00 pm – Courtney’s 12 month swallow study at the Children’s Hospital. We fully expected her to fail this miserably. But she did great, she “passed” her test, and now is allowed to have unthickened liquids with some limitations. She can only have low flow newborn nipples on her bottles, sippee cups have to have a flow modulator that makes her have to work for the liquid and finally no straws unless they are the little coffee straws. This is a HUGE win for us. She has been on thickened liquids since she was 3 weeks old. Yes my breast milk had to be pumped and thickened in order for her to drink it.
3:00 pm – Breast Surgeon – The surgeon they sent us to was the same surgeon that did my gallbladder removal 8 months ago. While he was a nice guy, Pat and I were all ready skeptical of him doing my breast. Needless to say we were correct in our thoughts. I did a consult with him and we (Pat and I) didn’t agree with his plan of action and decided immediately that we would be seeking a second opinion.
4:30 pm – Family Dr – She agreed with our not going with the first surgeons recommendations and made me appointment with Dr Janet Grange from Your Breast Healthcare. We meet with her 11/28. She also noted that my pelvic sonogram results were in from that morning and printed them off for me. I was wrong in my thought that the sonogram was a waste of time.
This afternoon, 11/27/12, Dr Jacobi, my OB-Gyn called and wants me to come in Friday for a uterine biopsy, my uterine lining is thickened and my uterus is enlarged. I asked why she wants a biopsy, and she informed me it is to rule out cancer. If it isn’t cancer then it is Adenomysis, like she thought last week and we will start discussing a hysterectomy. Which I am all for, (and I will be looking into a tummy tuck with it), she said we start discussing treatment options on Friday when I come in. The only part of Friday that I am concerned about is the actual biopsy. I am afraid it is going to hurt. Dr Jacobi said that I have had children and I am tough so I should be fine. Yeah, I don’t think so, but I am guess I am going to find out. Patrick won’t be able to be in there to hold my hand during it because he will have to be in the waiting room with the babies, so it should be interesting.
So there you have it, my adventures of being a woman. I will up date when I have more information.
