Disney World’s Magic Kingdom remains the most visited theme park in the world for 2015. Seeing a 6% increase in visits from the previous year, Magic Kingdom saw over 56,000 visitors per day enter the parks, as per the most recently published AECOM/TEA attendance report for 2015.
The Walt Disney company owns 8 of the top 10 most visited theme parks in the world for 2015, which is down from holding the 9 from the previous year. Universal Studios Orlando replaced Disneyland’s California Adventure as the number 10 most visited theme park in the world.
From a company owned perspective, it’s no surprise Walt Disney owned theme parks remain at the top of the most visited theme park properties in the world. Overall, Disney saw a 2% gain in attendance over the previous year while Universal Studios continue to see big gains worldwide with the Harry Potter properties.
Here are the numbers for the Orlando, FL theme parks for 2015, including Disneyland:
- Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom averaged 56,142 visitors per day in 2015 totaling 20,492,000 for the year and is the #1 most visited theme park in the world and North America,
- Disneyland averaged 50,077 visitors per day in 2015 totaling 18,278,000 for the year and is the #2 most visited theme park in the the world and North America,
- EPCOT averaged 32,323 visitors per day in 2015 totaling 11,798,000 for the year and is the #6 most visited theme park in the world and the #3 most visited theme park in North America,
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom averaged 29,923 visitors per day in 2015 totaling 10,922,000 for the year and is the #7 most visited theme park in the world and the #4 most visited park in North America,
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios averaged 29,666 visitors per day in 2015 totaling 10,828,000 for the year and is the #8 most visited theme park in the world and the #5 most visited park in North America,
- Universal Studios Orlando averaged 26,260 visitors per day in 2015 totaling 9,585,000 for the year and is the #10 most visited theme park in the world and the #6 most visited park in North America,
- Disney’s California Adventure averaged 25,707 visitors per day in 2015 totaling 9,383,000 for the year and is the #11 most visited theme park in the world and the #7 most visited park in North America,
- Islands of Adventure Orlando averaged 24,088 visitors per day in 2015 totaling 8,792,000 for the year and is the #12 most visited theme park in the world and the #8 most visited park in North America,
- SeaWorld Orlando averaged 13,088 visitors per day in 2015 totaling 4,777,000 for the year and is the #22 most visited theme park in the world and the #10 most visited park in North America.
Side notes:
- Walt Disney theme parks in North America all saw increased attendance gains from 2014. DisneyLand saw the largest increase at 9% while Magic Kingdom saw a 6% increase.
- Universal Studios all over the world continue to see the largest increases in attendance. Universal Japan saw a 17% guest attendance increase while Universal Studios Orlando saw a 16% increase. The Harry Potter lands can certainly be given the credit for the increase.
- SeaWorld finally saw a year over year attendance increase at 2% after consecutive years of declining attendance. The new Mako ride set to open in June should help continue the trend.
