I’m not a jewelry guy. Outside of my wedding band I don’t wear any other jewelry pieces (although I’m an Apple fanboy I’m not too interested in getting an iWatch). However, I do like a nice watch to wear on occasion. If I’m in any kind of formal setting, I think a watch is a perfect accessory for me. The key for me, though, has been finding a watch to complement my conservative attire now that I’m in my 40’s (I’ve always dressed pretty conservatively, anyways).
I usually like a watch that’s pretty simple. I’m not a fan of those watches that have multiple dials on them, nor am I a huge fan of any digital timepieces either. Usually, I like a silver band and a watch with a blue face (my favorite color). Any jewelry stores I walk by I’ll always take a quick peek to see if there’s any styles that would fit my tastes. One kind of timepiece I’ve never thought about until recently was a wood crafted watch, and I found several made by Jord.
My wife first introduced me to Jord wood watches through their online store. They offered several different styles and color faces along with different types of wood bands. A few styles really caught my eye and wanted to give them a try. One specific style called the Delmar offered a blue face with a darker black-ish wood band that really seem to catch my eye. The Jord rep told my wife the face was really large and may not be the best style suited for me. He was correct as I’m not into the watches with the really big faces, which seem to be the style nowadays.
The Jord rep recommended I give the Dover style a try, and he nailed it. This watch offered the perfect face size and was conservative enough to accessorize my wardrobe. It’s not a loud watch and doesn’t through out much bling, which is what I was looking for in a low key timepiece.
Each watch from Jord wood watches is custom fit. As such, I needed to measure my wrist and provide them with the size to the watch I chose would match. Once provided, the watch was made and shipped in just a few weeks.
Each watch comes in a specialty wood box. The box in of itself is finely crafted and would make for a great jewelry container or even a change holder. My watch was wrapped around a plush cushion when it shipped, which was really need to see when I first opened the box.
The watch fit perfectly, but I needed to wind up the Dover and set the correct time. Once fully wound up each watch has self winding drive system, which means that if I wear the watch everyday it’ll keep ticking without me having to wind up the watch every day. Basically, it winds itself!
This watch has gone with me almost everywhere since I’ve received it: Disney World theme parks, back home to Nebraska and to my 25th high school class reunion, church, and even on my commercial shoots. The Dover from Jord wood watches has been that conservative, simple, and elegant timepiece I’ve been looking to get for a long time and would recommend this watch to anyone looking for the same kind of watch!
That is the coolest watch I’ve seen. I know several guys who would love this for christmas!
I never heard of this brand but that is a beautiful watch! I love the wood look – it’s very manly.
My son loves his JORD watch. He sports it everywhere to show off. I love that they are unique to each piece.
That is a wonderful looking watch. My husband is the same way — he wears his band and his watch. That is it. I am going to check this out for his Christmas present (he is notoriously difficult to shop for).
