On our last full day in Branson we spent the day in Silver Dollar City. I did a little research online before we got there, very little. I knew there were roller coasters and some rides, but I had no idea how big it really was and everything they had.
Upon walking up we were in awe of the beautiful landscaping ans surroundings. We headed to guest services, where we were to pick up our passes and a special envelope for us. While there we asked about special assistance accommodations. We were pleasantly surprised to find out they have a program very similar to the Orlando theme parks. As well as a stroller as wheelchair card.
I am going to go over the finer points of our one afternoon visit, with the understanding that as far as we are concerned, Silver Dollar City is an at least two day activity.
Educational – when we walked in, we didn’t know to pick up the newspaper looking thing, and had no idea of where anything was. So naturally we just started walking and veered to the left. We found ourselves engulfed in yester years. From cottages with team members playing a family in that time period, to a farm, and so much more. The kids loved walking around and looking at everything. Courtney especially loved the dog that is there for everyone to pet. I could have spent all day just over in that section of the park. Besides being beautiful, it was like being transported back in time.
Shopping – Oh My Goodness! The Shopping! It is like a wonderful craft market full of charming and fantastic items. There are different stores everywhere that you can spend hours in just shopping. I would say I could easily spend one entire (or two) days doing nothing but shopping in all the stores and booths. Seriously, they have everything from Christmas shops, to Christian shops, to Kids Toys Shops. It is AWESOME!
Kid Fire Truck Area – The fire play area with rides for the kids was awesome. From the splash area to the ball pit shooting play place to the rides for kids, my two had a BLAST!
Rides for the Whole Family – We didn’t but barely touch on the rides for the whole family, like I said, Silver Dollar City is definitely a two day park at the very least. The rides we did do, well, we had a fantastic time. They have some of everything and a few rides that I have never knew even existed.
We had an absolutely fabulous time at Silver Dollar City, and even want to go back. We want to spend 2 to 3 days there to take more pictures and videos. I feel bad that I can’t show you more video of this amazing theme park, as they require a PR person to be with us at all times when videoing….Next time we will plan better and arrange for some videoing.
If you live within an easy drive of Silver Dollar City and you are not visiting, or even a season pass holder, you are sorely missing out. I am still bummed we didn’t have more time to spend there. It was so much fun and if we ever move back to the midwest, we will be season passholders. Totally Worth It.
A few more pics of the surroundings, the color area when leaving, the kids sensory play area, the Harlem Globetrotters, because yes, we got pics when they were just walking around…. an underground restaurant and well just Silver Dollar City….
