Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia – Disney Quest

April 9, 2013 by Aunesty Reikofski 3 Comments

Tiggerific-Tuesday-TriviaAre you a fan of Disney Quest?  We just realized the other day, that we hadn’t been since November!  I think we need to put it on the list for this week!.  While my older sons love it there, it is a little difficult for us to enjoy with the babies.  They do have a floor devoted to “little” kid games, and Carson loves to play them and pretend he is a “big” kid like his brothers.  But at the end of the day, it is a lot of work for us to enjoy our time there with the toddlers.  If we could ever get a date night, Disney Quest would be one of those places that is on our list of places to go and enjoy ourselves.

Originally, The Disney Quest project was designed as a way for the Disney brand to reach people who may not have the chance to visit one of their parks.  It was meant to target large cities and urban areas. Had the project continued, Disney had plans to construct locations in many major cities in the United States.

The second Disney Quest was built and opened in Chicago, but it was permanently closed on September 4, 2001 due to low attendance. After the failure of Disney Quest Chicago, the Disney Quest project was officially brought to an end. Construction that had begun on a Disney Quest in Philadelphia was scrapped, and a Disney Quest at Disneyland Resort in California never proceeded past the planning stage. Disney announced another location to be built in downtown Toronto (at the Dundas Square inside the new high tech mall Metropolis), but the project was also cancelled.

After the closure of the Chicago location, Disney Regional Entertainment turned over control of the remaining location to Walt Disney World operations.

I had no idea there were plans for other Disney Quests! I haven’t made it to the one at WDW yet, but it’s on my list to do at some point.

I wish it would have worked out, could have been really great had the public shown more interest.
