After everything that has happened during March and April, we have decided that we need to get away in May for a bit. (If you don’t know what I am talking about, then be sure you are following us on our Facebook Page to stay up to date.) Okay fine, we were planning a roadtrip for May regardless of the chaos of last month.

A few months ago I wrote about Gulf County, Florida, and how I wanted to head there to have some fun and take some pics. Well life got in the way, you know as it does, and we didn’t get a chance to head there. Well, it’s time. I keeping checking out all there is to do there and the land looks like it is begging for some sunset night shots. But the morning Dolphin Parade is what I am most excited about seeing. Apparently, every morning around sunrise you can see the dolphins swimming by!
I keep thinking Gulf County will be great for a weekend trip, then I start looking at all there is to do on the Gulf County Adventure Guide and I am convinced I need to spend a week there! Seriously, I am blown away at how many adventures we can have there!
- Kayak Through the Dead Lakes
- Wake up early to watch the Dolphin Parade
- Adventure out to a different beach every day
- Horseback ride right along the beach
- Camping on the beach
- Shelling at the tip of the Cape
- Fishing by Indian Pass
- Swimming with the Turtles
I think for our family, Camping on the beach would be super high on the list. Imagine being about to wake up and take photos immediately out your door of sunrise over the gulf. Or in Courtney’s case, get up and go swimming immediately!
I want to go Horseback riding on the beach as well. You know, have that movie moment, when you are galloping along the waters edge with your hair flowing behind you. Oh and the whole swim with the sea turtles thing, YES please!
With Gulf County only being a 5 hour drive from Walt Disney World, I think it is the perfect distance to enjoy some real outdoors vacation time without us traveling too far from home. A perfect stop for families driving in for vacation for a little before or after Disney traditional family vacation fun.
