Walt Disney World Security to the Rescue

April 24, 2013 by Aunesty Reikofski 1 Comment

IMG_7332Yesterday we decided to go to the Polynesian and check on prices for renting a pontoon boat, we have friends coming into town in May, and thought it would be fun to do with them while they are staying on site.  After spending about an hour at the Poly, we decided to head over to Magic Kingdom for a few rides, a few pictures and some water play.  Becca wasn’t feeling so hot, so she decided to head back to the van and wait for us.

After about an hour, we got a call from Becca.  The van won’t start…. It seems that she turned on the van, not all the way, just until she could watch our Sirius XM Satellite TV while she waited… Well that drained the battery.

The good thing, she called when we were literally walking through the castle on our way back to the monorail to head to the van.  The bad, we don’t have jumper cables and no idea what to do.

So we get to the van, and I walk back to valet at the resort and ask tell them what is going on.  Within two minutes, he had called security, and told me to go back to the van and put the hood up.  That security was on their way and would be able to give us a jump.

Seriously within 10 minutes, along comes security.  He silently hopped out of his vehicle, grabbed a charger from the back and went to work.  One minute later and we were up and running.  Being how I have never had car issues while on vacation at WDW, I had no idea what would happen.  I have to say I am beyond impressed with how quickly they were able to help us, and that they were even able to give us an assist.  (BTW …. We are getting a new battery at WalMart tomorrow when we get the oil changed)

So that is my WDW Security to the Rescue story… what’s yours?

We had a very similar experience when my son left the door open and the light on in our car one trip to All Star Music. We used the bus while there so it was like that for a couple days and as we were about to go home we realized what he had done. We did have a jump starter and cables with us. There was nobody out and about that early to give us a jump and our jump starter was not powerful enough to recharge a battery that was as dead as ours. The wonderful Disney security saved our morning by jump starting us just like they did you. We still have not replaced that battery nor have we had problems with it since then and that was about 5 years ago/
