A Resort and More – Grand Country Resort in Branson, MO

July 16, 2015 by Aunesty Reikofski Leave a Comment

When got to the Grand Country Resort in Branson, MO I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I definitely didn’t expect what we got.  The resort was much larger than I remembered (I stayed there 10 years ago) and there was so much to do!Grand Country Resort in Branson, MO

Now from what I understand there are two different types of rooms, the standard and the New Clubhouse Rooms.  We stayed in a Clubhouse room and the kiddos LOVED it.  The semi-private bunkbed room within the room really made them feel like they had their own space and were still close.

Now, the rest of the room was fine, outdated a bit, but clean and roomy.  I will say this, we were there for 3 days and never once did we see a bug in our room.  To me, that says a lot being how there were plenty of bugs just outside our doors.  I do understand that the other standard rooms are in fact rather outdated and in need of TLC.  But I can’t really speak to them as we didn’t stay in one.  But seriously, if you are going to go stay at the Grand Country Resort, with kids, you MUST get the Clubhouse room, TOTALLY worth it!

The Grand Country Resort offers a ton of recreational activities and a few places to eat.  We didn’t get time to do the mini-golf or laser tag, but we did check out the indoor water park, the Grand Country Buffet for breakfast and one of their shows, the Amazing Pet Show.

The indoor water park was okay, it is in need of many fixes and mold removal.  The little kids area was a nice change from most water parks though.  Our two had a blast going up and down the water slides that were just their size.  The lazy river, which is something my kids love at local resorts, was not something that we could enjoy, as 1, you HAVE to use their tubes, and the water goes WAY too fast for us to hold on to them without scratching the crud out of our knees.  It is definitely an older kids, who can swim kind of thing.  The tall Water Bucket and slides are also definitely for older kids and adults.   All in all, I would give the Indoor Water Park a 7 out of 10 stars, and say that while we only did it for one night, it was a lot of fun for our little ones.

Breakfast at the Grand Country Buffet was quite delicious and VERY filling.  They have a HUGE selection of fresh fruits and hot breakfast foods.  We ended letting the kids have Ice Cream for Breakfast, to honor Give Kids the World Village, and us adults ate the other offerings.

We literally had to run to the Amazing Pet Show (which luckily was in the same building) in order to get there on time.  We misjudged how long it would take to get seated and start eating.  Yes there was a line.

The Amazing Pet Show was okay.  Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it to others.  They have other shows there on site that looked like they would have been better.  While the show was okay, it was more about the seating and how even as adults we couldn’t see the stage, let alone the kids seeing the stage.  The animals all perform on the stage, so thus you are lucky if you see some of the show….  The stage needs to be raised or stadium seating put in so those outside of the first three rows can actually see what is going on.

IMG_3397The pets were cute, and the tricks I kind of saw were okay, and the kids liked it, but if I had the choice between this show and the mini-golf, laser tag and arcade, I would pick the latter.
