The My Disney Experience App or MDE App for smartphones and tablets has been updated to give guests the ability to view and purchase pictures and videos from the Disney PhotoPass system. The update was pushed through the Apple App Store on August 24th, 2015.
Guests will be able to view a previewed sampling of the photo taken of them with Disney’s watermark on the picture.
Pictures from attractions and rides at any of the four Disney World parks will be available for viewing on the MDE app as well as any pictures taken by a Disney Photographer.
Videos from certain attractions such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Ride at Magic Kingdom and Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios will also be available via the MDE app but will not be able to be previewed. Videos will still need to be viewed via a desktop computer.
At this time, it appears guests must purchase Disney’s Memory Maker package via the App in order to immediately view the photos and videos sans the Disney PhotoPass watermark. The ability to merely purchase a picture individually without the Memory Maker via the smartphone or tablet app is not available for guests at this time and will still need to be completed online via a desktop computer.
Memory Maker is priced at $199. Individual pictures can be purchased online for as low as $14.95 for a 4×6 picture.
