Carson has been watching the Lego movie a few times a week for months now, and if you have a child in your home that loves this movie, then you like us, have probably caught yourself singing the theme song…. even when the kids aren’t around…Well Carson also found a couple of videos on YouTube of his favorite two kids to watch at, you guessed it, Legoland and for several weeks we have been begged to go to Legoland. So, while Grandma and Grandpa were in town visiting, we decided it would be a perfect chance to go check out Legoland. Boy am I glad we did!
Upon entering the parking lot ($16 to park), Carson and Courtney were barely able to contain their excitement. Carson was pointing out the signs in the signs in the parking lot, announcing the names of each character. Oh and then the end all, he saw the Lego hotel. He has yet to stop begging us to go there. We had to explain to him it was still being built, but as soon as it is open, we will go check it out. He keeps asking if it’s open….it opened while we were on our May Roadtrip, so now we will have to go take a visit and explore the awesomeness of the Legoland Hotel this summer.
I must confess something before we go any further with this review, prior to our arrival, I had not watched a single video, looked at a map, read any posts, or done any research about Legoland. I was a complete newbie, my two preschoolers knew more about what to expect than I did. So everything I write in this post, is from a very first time experience.
I am not sure if I was more blown away by all the Lego creations around me, or the absolute joy that both my children were expressing. They were transported into the Lego world with Emmett and Wild Style almost immediately with all the larger than life Lego master pieces.
The very first thing I did was head into Guest Services to find out if there was a stroller as a wheelchair pass or special assistance pass. Yup, there was. The pass at Legoland is an Assisted Access pass and it allowed us to use our stroller as a wheelchair. Something that I TOTALLY loved about Legoland, when you get to an attraction, you look for the “Heroes Entrance” where you take your card and they either give you a comeback time, or if the wait times are under 15 minutes, board you. The part I love, it isn’t a handicap entrance, or a special assistance entrance, but it’s for Heroes, and it’s a Heroes entrance. Yup Loved That!
After getting the assistance pass we headed to our first ride, Island in the Sky. That was cool!

We ended up buying 3 little Lego Men packages so the kids could trade with the workers. That was pretty cool. In Guest Services they have a wall of more than 1,000 Lego Men…. yeah, I was blown away. The kids loved trading the little guys and I thought it was very unique and quite cool.
When we hit Land of Adventure, we immediately rode Lost Kingdom Adventure and yes, I kicked some butt, even while taking photos!
Miniland was awesome! I could have spent all day in just that one area. It is an absolute must do IMO. If anything do the Star Wars area, push the buttons and take it all in. It is amazing!
We didn’t get even half the park done as a strong storm rolled in. We did try to wait it out and ended up spending an hour an a half in the Imagination Zones WB Games. By the time we had a little break, we ran for our van. Needless to say Carson and Courtney were very disappointed and keep asking to go back so they can finish the rest of the rides they wanted to do. Which based on the amazing time we had, we are actually considering purchasing season passes.
Mom’s Notes:
- There is Seating EVERYWHERE! Which for the grandparents who were with us, was ideal. I wish other theme parks would put as many seating opportunities in as Legoland has
- It will take more than one day to do and see everything, I would highly recommend a two day pass, or at the very least have a plan of action and be prepared for Florida rain storms
- If Chima is on your game plan, bring an extra set of clothes to change into
- There are opportunities ALL OVER Legoland for kids (big and little) to play with Legos or Duplo blocks
- Playground areas – There are fun little playground areas (and one big one) for the kids when parents need to take a break and just sit.
- Alcohol is NOT served in the park. So no, Dad won’t get his cold beer.
- Yes the Apple Fries (with Caramel Dipping Sauce too) are DELICIOUS and one is large enough for a family of four to share for a light snack.
- Bring a quart or sandwich size zip lock baggie for each child, if you will be trading Lego Men throughout the day. It will help hold the small pieces, like swords, helmets, wands…
- Nothing was too scary for the kids, which I liked. It really is a park all about kids
- On another note, there wasn’t too much to do for the grandparents. While they enjoyed watching the kiddos have fun, they really only sat around and observed.
The Lego creations they make and display at these things seriously blow me away. At Disneyland the Lego store has an amazing creation with a dragon blowing out fire and a prince, and beauty and the best, it’s just so cool! Awesome trip!
I hope we can go to Legoland someday, it looks like so much fun. I have loved playing with legos ever since I was a kid!
Legoland looks so awesome! My nephew just LOVES legos so I bet he would love this place more than disney!
I’ve never been to Lego land but I think my family and I would have an amazing time. We love mega bloks right now but I know soon we will move onto the smaller legos. It looks like you had so much fun!
Wow, looks like you had a wonderful time! I’ve been wanting to take my son here – will have to plan a trip soon.
I love the Lego theme song. It is sung in my house at least 20 times a day. We have to take a family trip to Florida. Lego Land would make a fun vacation destination.
Is this the one in Orlando? We live pretty close to here! Our homeschool group did a field trip there last year but we couldn’t make it.
Oh wow, Legoland in FL looks like SO much fun! I agree, I love that there would be so much seating available as you walk around. Love all your photos!
I so need to take a day trip down here. I keep saying I am going to go but never do. It looks awesome and your little ones seem to have fun.
