The Invictus Games 2016 will be held in Orlando, FL from May 8th through May 12th, 2016 at Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports.
If you’re not aware, the Invictus Games were first held in 2014 in London. Prince Harry of Wales, after having attended the 2013 Warrior Games in the United States, saw sports and athletic competition as a way to help wounded warriors and former service men and women. With this as a guideline, Prince Harry coordinated the first Invictus Games as a way to help these brave men and women physically, psychologically, and socially.
After the success of the London Invictus Games in 2014, Prince Harry pushed the games to continue. A bidding process was opened and Orlando was the winning city to host the 2016 games. Set at Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports complex, the Orlando Invictus games for 2016 will host competitors form 16 countries around the world.
A quote from Prince Harry,
The 2014 Games were just the beginning of the Invictus story. The competitors showed grit, determination and humor: an absolute refusal to be beaten or be defined by their injuries – the Invictus spirit was born. I can’t wait to see the American public supporting these inspirational men and women at the next games.
