Tonight was our very first time doing Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party inside of Magic Kingdom. We dressed Carson up as Buzz Lightyear and Courtney as Tinkerbell. We got Carson a pair of pajamas instead of a traditional costume, as the texture would not go over well. I am so glad we went this route, as tonight was muggy and I think he would have been miserable in a polyester costume. We ended up finding their costumes at the Disney Store in the Florida mall for great prices! Carson’s was $16 and Courtney’s Tinkerbell costume was $35. Patrick and I were planning on dressing up, but when we left to go get our costumes and head over to Magic Kingdom, it was pouring rain, so we decided to just skip the costumes and head to the park. We figured we would go ahead and get new “ears” and where those tonight instead. Which we did, and even Carson picked out a hat he had to have! Pat got the Donald Duck ears, Carson got the Cars Hat, and I got the Ears headband.
So Upon entering Magic Kingdom this evening, they immediately put a wrist band on you, and you get these little bags to collect candy in. Thanks to all our wonderful fans on Facebook for giving us a tip. Bring a larger bag to empty the little bags into. These little bags fill up FAST, and don’t hold a lot and they give you A LOT of candy at each stop. Also upon entering is the MNSSHP map and times guide, this is important to have as it tells you where to trick-o-treat, and what times the parade, shows and fireworks are.
Shortly after getting into the park, bot Carson and Courtney passed out! So we managed to get a great seat for the parade, since we didn’t have to worry about keeping two babies entertained for 45 minutes of sitting! The parade was great! Carson woke up during it and was able to watch most if it and from what I could tell he enjoyed it as well.
I will say this, it was PACKED, we found out that there were 23,000 tickets sold for tonight’s party. And at one point I swear they were all in Fantasyland! You couldn’t get through with a stroller, it was that packed! My only other complaint, Cutters. I hate line cutters. We all have to wait, we all paid to be there, and guess what Disney isn’t going to run out of candy. But every candy line we were in tonight, someone cut us. We didn’t do all the candy stations. I would say we only did about half at most. But we did get a TON of candy!
Now on to the good part – Pictures and Videos – (videos will be added tomorrow, too late tonight)
We got lucky and had an entire Monorail car to ourselves! That never happens!
Right after we got our new “Ears” we went next door to the candy shop and watched the lady making Cotton Candy, and she ended up giving Carson some free cotton candy, that is his favorite! What a really NICE thing!!!
It feels like there should be a story for this picture, but there isn’t other than I love the Cast Members Costumes for MNSSHP.
So a bunch of them were near and we took a picture.
Courtney haging out in the Dance Party area of Tomorroland, before the party started
Then they passed out:
Saw the neatest costume ever tonight! Belle and Beast in one!
Candy Time, they literally grab handfuls at a time and put it in your bag!
We went and visited with Tinkerbell and Periwinkle (5 Minute Wait!)
Main Street:
We went to MNSSHP last year and had a blast. The candy selection is awesome, the parade is great, and the fireworks are anazing
Went with firends and family we had a blast and got lots of candy
Love that Belle/Beast costume! Thats awesome. We did the MNSSHP when my daughter was 3.5 she loved it. Here is a tip for parents, explain to your kids that its so loud in some places that characters may not be able to hear them. My daughter tried to talk to Chip at a little dance he was attending. Lots of kids were around him and she was saying I love you Chip. I didnt even realize she was talking to him. She cried a little bc he didnt respond. There was no way he could hear her and her little heart was broke. Wish I wpuld have explained that to her beforehand.
love it
This looks like such a great time! Thanks for sharing all your experiences, especially with the little ones. My kids would be in sugar heaven with all that candy, but it was nice to see some of the fruit (my kids preference actually!). We may have to try this one of these days!
We went to MNSSHP last year & it was really fun!! We dressed as pirates, it was easy to put a bandana on & add some skull jewelry to the pirate shirts we had been wearing all day in the park. My son had a Pirate League make over earlier in the day so he was all set for the party. The PJs are a great idea, wish I had thought of that when my son was younger. I love the ears headband you chose! That Belle/Beast costume was cool but would be way over the top for me.
Hope you have a fun Halloween!!!
Looks like you had a great time! Someday I hope to take my kids to the Halloween Party!
I like seeing your pictures from MNSSHP. I am really hoping that we will get to go and see it for ourselves sometime.
We loved seeing even the adults in their costumes and got lots of ideas that would work for our haunted house.
I have always wanted to d the MNSSHP but wondered if it was worth the extra expense, and if my older kids would enjoy it (11 & 13)…. Looks like y’all had a BALL!!!!
Thanks for this post! DH and I went a few years ago before our son was born (I was pregnant!), and we had a really good time. Can’t wait to take him! That Belle/Beast costume is awesome!!! And that parade def. was really good, love the headless horseman.
I’ve never been to the Halloween party but I’d love to go one day! Thanks for posting all the pictures! That girl dressed as both Belle and the beast is awesome!!!
I love that they gave out bananas!! And the belle/beast outfit was awesome. Thanks for sharing 🙂
We did the Halloween Party a few years ago, before we had kids. Definitely would love to go back with our son! Also, the Christmas Party, while we have never done it, is something I’m definitely interested in as well!
WOW that’s a lot of candy!! And yeah, I love the Buzz PJ’s too! they’re so cute and a great idea to replace the polyester costumes. I can’t STAND cutters. They bug me. So much. We’ve never been to MNSSHP, so its on our list of things to do 🙂 my little sister would love it!
Thanks for sharing your expereience doing the Halloween party! We have never been and are planning to go on our next visit (October 2013) and have been trying to read as much info as I can to prepare for the expereince. Your children are too cute and love the costumes!!!
I love the Buzz Pajamas!! I am absolutely going shopping for those! So much more comfy than the usual costumes, and they can wear them again for pajamas! My son is autistic and won’t usually wear something new until he is used to at least seeing and touching it, due to sensory sensitivities! Looks like you had fun, and wow that is a lot of candy! Thanks so much for the tips and photos!
Carson doesn’t have too many sensory issues, we got lucky there, but he can be picky at times about too bulky. With the PJ’s we were able to get a costume look without and ASD meltdown = PERFECT! That he has a short sleeve and short set too, that we have had to let him wear days in a row at a time before because he won’t take off the shirt….Always reminds me of Parenthood and the Pirate Costume….
