My Disney Experience App Gets New Update

June 3, 2016 by Patrick Reikofski 7 Comments

Disney rolled out a new update for the My Disney Experience (MDE) app for iOS and Android smartphones.

Daily fireworks shows and parades are now prominently featured in an updated section called Park Hours & Info:

Park hours for future dates now have easier navigation:

Annual Passholders now have blackout date visibility, a new feature to the MDE app:

However, attraction and ride wait times have been removed from the section list.  Users will now need to open the Attractions selection at the Home Screen and sort by park.  The ability to sort attractions by wait time has been removed and only seeing rides in alphabetical order is now available:

Users now can only see wait times by clicking the Attractions tab at the top of the screen.  The default view is a map of all the Disney World parks showing wait times.

Users can click the List icon on the bottom right to change the view to List mode.  Guest can then see attractions listed in alphabetical order where their respected wait times are now posted.

The older version of the My Disney Experience app allowed users to easily see wait times for attractions with a dedicated Wait Times section as seen below

Guests could easily sort attractions at specific parks by wait times from lowest to highest in the previous version.  This viewing capability has now been removed from the new MDE version.

I loved the ability to see wait times listed in lowest to highest order.  It easily gave me an ability to quickly assess how busy a park was at a given time by seeing all the wait times easily.  Now, it’s a bit more difficult.

Let us know what you think:  do you like the new version of the My Disney Experience (MDE) app?

NO, I do NOT like the new update. It was user friendly before. Very Disney-like before. I just want to go directly to wait times. Please Disney put it back the way it was. Don’t break something that didn’t need to be fixed. I go to Disney next week and was so looking forward to that easy function.

I think the previous ‘wait times’ option was the most useful item in the app. The change is not so good and a retrograde step in my view.

It also seems that the Wish List is gone. I can access on the website but not on the app. Am I correct?

I can’t find my wish list and it’s something very useful for planning your trip.

As long as I can see the wait times, I couldn’t care less how they’re displayed. Its not a big deal.
