Our Stay in a Motel 6

July 15, 2012 by Aunesty Reikofski 2 Comments

Since we it was 2 in the morning and we had been up since 6am, packing and moving everything into storage, we were exhausted.  With every hotel booked in the KCI are, in The Legends area and in Bonner Springs, we decided to keep heading down I70 and we came up on a Motel 6 in Lawrence KS, right off the turnpike.

I went in and the smell was that of a damp old basement, but I decided we were too tired to care about the smell, and I went ahead and paid way more than anyone every should for a Motel 6 – $78!  Yeah I know right!

Our room was FILTHY, dirt chunks on the bed, all over the floor.  And the floor, well lets just say there was no way I would allow Courtney to crawl on it, and I cringed when Carson to walked barefoot on it.  Oh my goodness was it gross.  Now I have nothing wrong with an old hotel/motel, but filthy is a whole other thing.  I was terrified of the sheets, and after a thorough inspection, I decided that I didn’t see any bugs, and we went to sleep.

Courtney was up around 6 am and I went ahead and took her out the van, where I made her an area to sit and play with toys while I let Pat, Gabe and Carson sleep a little longer.  Around 7:30 I woke everyone up and we headed out on the road.

Lesson learning – we will NOT every stay in a Motel 6 again without first seeing the room, and it is amazing what you will settle for when you are exhausted!
