Perfect Places to Poop at Disney World

November 5, 2014 by Patrick Reikofski 39 Comments

We all have to do it:  we need to use a bathroom.  It’s a normal bodily function and can’t be put off for any long stretch of time.  And we have to use the bathroom no matter where we go.  If you’re going to Disney World and spending hours at one of the four parks, you’re going to use a bathroom at some point.Perfect Places to Poop at Disney World

So, let’s talk about those Walt Disney World restrooms.  If you ask any given Disney World fanatic or regular, most can probably tell you of a favorite or preferred restroom.  It’s a bathroom, to them, which is typically clean (Disney World restrooms are cleaned and maintained on a regular basis throughout a given day) but usually the biggest draw is a lack of people.  Some bathrooms at the Disney World parks are more crowded than others simply due to their location.  Restrooms can service a large area where multiple attractions or rides exit, making them open to having long lines at times.Perfect Places to Poop at Disney World

As a family with small children who’ve visited the WDW parks extensively in the past two years, we’ve probably used almost 90% of all available restrooms at the parks at least one time.  We have our preferred places to go to the bathroom at each of the parks, so the next time you visit and need that potty break at Disney, give these restrooms a visit!

Best Restrooms at Magic Kingdom

These restrooms really speak to being the least crowded bathrooms at Magic Kingdom:

  • First Aid/Child Care restrooms – located between Casey’s Corner and The Crystal Palace,
  • Gaston’s Tavern in Fantasyland – located between Gaston’s Tavern and the Bonjour! Village Gifts shop,
  • Pirates of the Caribbean restrooms in Adventureland – located near the Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar gift shop (Pirates of the Caribbean ride exit)

Worst Restrooms at Magic Kingdom

We’ve found these to be the most crowded and sometimes dirtiest bathrooms (because of seeing so many people) at Magic Kingdom:

  • City Hall restrooms – located at the front entrance between City Hall and the fire station,
  • Adventureland Breezeway restrooms – located across from Swiss Family Treehouse

Best Family Companion Restrooms at Magic Kingdom

  • First Aid/Child Care restrooms – located between Casey’s Corner and The Crystal Palace,

Worst Family Companion Restrooms at Magic Kingdom

We’ve found these restrooms lacking a changing table:

  • Rapunzel Tower – located between Rapunzel Tower and It’s a Small World,
  • Fantasyland Railroad Station restrooms – located at the Fantasyland Station near Casey Jr Splash N Soak Station

Perfect Places to Poop at Disney WorldBest Restrooms at EPCOT

We’ve found these restrooms have been these least crowded bathrooms at EPCOT in our experience:

  • Odyssey Center restrooms – located outside of First Aid/Child Care near the Odyssey Center,
  • Imagination! restrooms – located on the far right side of Journey into Imagination with Figment ride,
  • Fountain View Restrooms – located in the Innovations West building near Starbucks between the Character Spot and Club Cool,
  • The Seas with Nemo and Friends restrooms – located on the lower level of the Seas pavilion past the Manatee tank,
  • American Adventure restrooms – located at America Pavilion near the Kidcot station

Worst Restrooms at EPCOT

We’ve found these restrooms to be the most crowded bathrooms at EPCOT:

  • Future World East restrooms – located outside Mouse Gears near Test Track and Mission Space rides,
  • Refreshment Port restrooms – located between Port of Entry gift shop and Canada Pavilion,
  • Germany Pavilion restrooms – located outside the Germany pavilion near the miniature train set

Best Family Restrooms at EPCOT

  • First Aid/Child Care restrooms – located near the Odyssey Center and Mexico Pavilion,
  • Future World West restrooms – located outside Innovations West near The Land entrance,
  • Morocco Companion restroom – located between Morocco Pavilion and France Pavilion

Worst Family Companion Restrooms at EPCOT

  • Future World East restrooms – located outside Mouse Gears near Test Track and Mission Space rides,
  • Germany Companion restroom – located outside Germany pavilion near the miniature train set

Perfect Places to Poop at Disney World

Best Restrooms at Hollywood Studios

  • Streets of America restrooms – located outside Lights, Motors, Action! entrance,
  • Animation Courtyard restrooms – located near Magic of Disney Animation entrance and Disney Studio Store gift shop,
  • Hollywood Brown Derby restrooms – located inside Hollywood Brown Derby side entrance and Disney Junior Live of Stage alternate exit

This last bathroom inside the Hollywood Brown Derby has served us well when the kids needed to leave the Disney Junior show early.  Very few people go in these restrooms, so if you’re in front of the (soon to be gone) Sorcerer hat for a performance and needed a restroom, this will do very nicely.

Worst Restrooms at Hollywood Studios

  • Studio Catering Company restrooms – located near the old Backstage Lot tour exit and across from Studio Catering CO dining area,
  • Pizza Planet Arcade restrooms – located between Pizza Planet dining and near Muppet Vision 3D entrance,

Best Family Companion Restrooms at Hollywood Studios

  • Child Care restrooms – located just inside the entrance near Sid Cahuenga’s One of A Kind shop,
  • Streets of America Companion restrooms – located outside Lights, Motors, Action! entrance,
  • Animation Courtyard Companion restrooms – located near Magic of Disney Animation entrance and Disney Studio Store gift shop

Worst Family Companion Restrooms at Hollywood Studios

  • Studio Catering Company Companion restrooms – located near the Old Backstage Lot tour exit and across from Studio Catering CO dining area,

Restrooms at Animal Kingdom

Frankly, we can’t think of any good restrooms which aren’t very crowded at Animal Kingdom to use.  The bathrooms at Animal Kingdom are few in numbers and are placed in high traffic areas.

Best Family Companion Restrooms at Animal Kingdom

  • Child Care/First Aid restrooms – located outside Creature Comforts gift shop outside entrance to Africa.

We hope you enjoyed our list of the best and worst bathrooms at the Walt Disney World parks.  But, when it gets right down to it, when you gotta go…any bathroom will do!Perfect Places to Poop at Disney World

This is NOT an exhaustive list, purely the potties we prefer for our family with two toddlers (one being special needs)…

Hollywood Studios Update: With all the renovations under way, the bathroom situation is not good. Some of the bathrooms mentioned above are now closed. Those that remain are crowded and not up to Disney’s usual standards of cleanliness. I actually saw a Disney paper cup positioned under one of the toilets, as if to prop something up. I saw very few bathroom custodians at DHS, which is very unusual. I’m sure they were around but with the high volume of guests, it would have been hard to get in and do their job.

As for the City Hall restrooms at Magic Kingdom, I used them at midday and it was like an oasis. I confess to lingering there because of the cool, quiet atmosphere. (Temperatures were in the mid-90s.) I would imagine those bathrooms get crazy at opening, closing, and parades.

Finally, I would like to mention that the toilet paper throughout the Disney World parks is HORRIBLE. The thin, nearly transparent paper was no match for a sweaty bum. The TP at the resorts is about a half-point better. If you’re staying at a Disney resort, do yourself a favor and bring a couple rolls of Charmin or Cottonelle from home.

I have a child who is very afraid of automatic flush toilets. Are all Disney toilets automatic flush?

The majority of the toilets at the parks do flush automatically.

I’ve heard a trick is to bring post-it notes and cover the sensor before using the toilet so it doesn’t automatically flush.

      Good luck!

Bring post-it notes and put over the sensor, my child hates automatic flushes and most public restroom flushes bc of how loud they are. The post-its are worth it!

Yes, we had that issue too. We tried covering the sensors with Mickey stickers, but she was still scared. Then we found the answer to our problems… The baby care centers had regular flush toilets. 🙂

The best bathroom was in the restaurant in China. (Epcot Pavillion) Large stalls. Pretty decor. Very quiet.

I used to be a custodian & majority of what many think a clean public restroom is I can find something wrong with. Disney is only place I have been impressed with. Their custodial staff does an amazing job. Even there campground bathroom was clean even after morning & evening rushes to showers.

I never poop when out and about, prefer to leave it at home. But when you’re on vaca, you don’t have much choice. Thank you for pointing out the rest rooms with the least traffic. It seems an easy rule is that the first aid center area ones at all the parks are a good bet. Nothing is worse than trying to go #2 at the #1 place in the world, just to have loud doors slammin and so much commotion that your poop crawls back up.

Your tip about Gaston’s was good. Glad I found this post while wandering around Fantasyland. I recommend avoiding the bathrooms at Be Our Guest. Crowded and way smaller than Gaston’s.

I’ve found a pretty uncrowded potty are those to the right of Space Mountain (as you approach ). Lots of stalls and benches for other members of your party to sit on while they wait for you to do your business. In Animal Kingdom, the bathrooms near Dinosaur attached to Restaurantasaurous are never crowded until the lunch crowd kicks in.

Problem I find with some is that the seat covers are very high and hard to reach for shorter people. I’m 5’1″ and have a hard time. I can only imagine a child or shorter person.

Great article, I agree with your choices wholeheartedly! As an FYI there is no “s” at the end of Mouse Gear. The name of the store is a pun, a place where you can buy “gear” from the Mouse.

Best bathroom in MK…I found it by accident! The bathroom on Tom Sawyer’s island. Clean, AC, and empty!!! I know it’s not the best for convenience, but if you’re there, it’s worth a visit!! Lol

The one thing the restrooms near the ABC Commissary at DHS has going for it — it is the ONLY restroom in FOUR parks that I found with flushing handles rather than the dreaded self-flushing units one finds everywhere else. Having a child who is terrified of the self-flushers, our first trip to Disney with her in tow was an exercise in patience and inventiveness!!

If you hang toilet paper over the self flusher, it won’t flush until you remove it.

My granddaughter has very sensitive hearing and those toilets bother her too. We take little post its and cover the sensor light and then uncover it for it to flush once she has left the stall. Just an idea.

hilarious list! i just did an international college program in custodial at MK, and i can agree with most of the MK ones! My personal favorite to use when I was a guest was the small (yet really nice) restroom in tortuga tavern when the restaurant isn’t open. It has some of the least foot traffic of all the MK restrooms, and it’s right across from Pirates of the Carribean! Tortuga is only open seasonally, and only for lunch, so more likely than not the bathroom will be nice and quiet if you need to go #2 😉

I’ve never had to wait at these: the Magic Kingdom: between Tomorrowland Terrace and Tony’s Town Square, and also back behind Space Mountain. In Epcot, in the building that’s used as the Festival Center during the springtime Flower & Garden Festival, and the autumn’s Food & Wine Festival.

IMHO, the worst ones at the Magic Kingdom should include the ones between Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies and Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe (on the side facing Tomorrowland Speedway).

Also, there are usually no lines at the restrooms that are just outside of each park entrance.

The worst restroom away Animal Kingdom is at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Station. The Excel hand dryers are positioned right next to the changing table, making it uncomfortably loud in that small restroom. (Poor babies getting changed!)

The new bathrooms in Animal Kingdom are really clean, and quite gorgeous. They’re sort of hidden back behind the new Festival of the Lion King theater. We didn’t have to wait long for them either, even though we used them right after a show let out!

You left off the worst bathroom in all of WDW property. The Monument restrooms in DHS. They are situated between Tower of Terror and the entrance to Fantasmic, but also get guests from Rock n Roller Coaster and Beauty and the Beast. The men’s room only has three stalls, and the entire thing is far too small for the crowds it gets. Meanwhile, right across the stree by Rock n Roller Coaster is a bathroom that is almost never busy.

You missed an outstanding restroom at DAK. On the Maharajah Jungel treck in the bat building there is a companion restroom. The entrance is almost purposely hidden as you are facing away from it when you walk out of the bat house, and towards the Tigers. It is a large family restroom with a locking door and the A/C kicks ass!

Probably the best restrooms at Animal Kingdom that I find least crowdest are the restrooms behind the finding Nemo show. It depends on timing though. Usually while the show is going on there are not a lot of people using those restrooms.
